Ask a Question

I can't find a Silverlight version 5.2 at microsoft web site please clarify

Customer can use version 5.1.40728.0. USE IT!
In PME 8 Installation Guide is written that Required Silverlight version is 5.2 or later.  This is refering to Product version and it is not explained directly what it means.
This is come from the fact that Microsoft is use to declare two descriptions:
- the install file version which is for instance 5.1.40728.0 and
- the product version vhich for this file version is 5.5.0031.0
The latest Microsoft Silverligt released install file version is Silverlight 5 Build 5.1.40905.0 Released September 29, 2015 (KB3099529).
I can tell you that on 64 bit systems and Windows Server 2008 R2 PME 8  it work with install file version 5.1.40416 which is product version 5.5, higher than 5.2.
According to Microsoft policy, Silverlight general version 5 is as well most related with the Windows system where it is used and Internet Explorer version too.
This policy is exposed here:

Final, answer is: when installer or Web Application will run for the first time it will ask to install the Silverlight and connect to Microsoft Download and take the only existing version latest released: File version 5.1.40728.0 and this corespond with Product version 5.5.0031.0.
