Schneider Electric Pakistan makes it possible for distribution of 72 mobiya Solar Lamps in Village Dhoor Gadhro, Thar Pakistan
Dhoor Gadhro village is located 70 km from the nearest electricity grid in the Thar desert area of Pakistan. Schneider Electric team went to this village on 7th October 2016 to distribute 72 numbers Mobiya Solar Lamps.
The project was planned and executed in collaboration with NGO AWARE on the ground.
The villagers were more than happy to receive the solar lamps which enable night activities such as for family members to make handicrafts for sale to supplement their income and for children to study. In addition, it will certainly reduce injuries related to adverse surrounding.
Since this village is very far from the electricity grid and in the absence of a metaled road, there is no chance for electricity coming to this village in a long long time.
The people over there have to spend their lives without any electricity, the basic light is also not available to them, but they have to make some sort of light to protect themselves from nocturnal snakes which come out at night and can only be warded off if light is present. If solar light lamps are not available to them, they have to go for expensive kerosene oil lamps which are not only expensive but are a great fire hazard for their straw huts.
The Schneider Electric mobiya Solar Lamps not only provide them much needed light but is also the source of communication for these isolated villagers. Now it is possible for them to communicate by charging their cell phones through this lamp without any extra cost. Earlier they used to have these cell phone batteries charged by sending the batteries 70 Km away for charging and that too at some cost.
All Schneider Electric employees in Pakistan contributed towards this project and felt proud to make a real contribution to our communities and improving their life style. This project is a good illustration that our employees care about people.
The villagers were thankful especially the children who could now study more and hope for a better future.
Thank you Schneider Electric for undertaking such projects bringing about betterment in the lives of these under-privileged people of Thar.
